Do you know what you really want in life? When I ask this question, I often get met with a blank stare. Or maybe some version of “I dunno.” Or the response might be something vague like, “I want to be happy.”
The question doesn’t necessarily mean what kind of career you want to pursue. It can, but it really means a lot more. Like, what do you want to do with your free time? What kind of contribution do you want to make in this world? What do you want to create? What do you want to be remembered for?
So many people drift through their entire lives not really knowing what they want and just taking whatever comes their way. Then all of a sudden they start thinking about it, but they believe it’s too late to do anything about it anyway, so why bother? But it’s never too late.
The truth is you already know what you want in life; you just might have to search a little to find the answer. But it’s there. It’s in your heart. All you have to do is ask…and then listen.
You will know when it speaks to you because it will make your soul sing. It will get you excited whenever you talk about it. It will put a smile on your face.
Don’t worry about whether or not you can make a living doing it. But know that you can if you really want to.
But first you have to get moving. Don’t let that dream die inside you. You have to do something about it. Seriously, you have to take action! Don’t be afraid. Don’t make excuses. Don’t be concerned that you don’t have enough experience or education. You can get whatever you need, if you make a commitment to making it happen.
So now, what do you really want in your life?
