Three simple ways to make a huge difference

There is so much pain and negativity going on in the world today. And while I never want to dwell on bad news, suffering, and chaos, it’s impossible to ignore it. Yet, it’s easy to believe there is nothing we, as individuals, can do about it.

We may not be able to stop violence, terrorism, and just plain stupidity that causes so much angst and frustration; however, there are some things we can do to initiate change that begins in our personal lives and ultimately spreads out into the world.

Here are three actions anyone can take:

1. Bring peace into your own heart. There is a beautiful song that starts, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” If everyone who reads this would actively and deliberately bring peace into their own lives, and encourage everyone around them to do the same, it could potentially impact millions. At the very least, you will feel more peaceful within yourself and your home and family. That’s a good beginning.

2. Pray. If you are a praying kind of person, now is the time to do it. I know I sometimes forget to pray for the world. Usually I’m so busy praying for the needs of those around me who are sick, suffering in some way, or who have lost loved ones that I tend to lose sight of the bigger picture. Let’s not do that. Let’s try to remember world peace and leadership in our prayers daily.

3. Send love out to the world. Yes, that’s very difficult to do sometimes. Especially when things are so crazy and people do such senseless acts. But hatred never solved anything. Only love can change the world. Love is energy, and it knows no boundaries. So you can easily send loving thoughts around the world. And if enough people do this, things will eventually begin to change.

These are three simple things we can do every day. They cost nothing, take minimal time, and can have a huge impact.
